If you’re like me, I’ve always had difficulty choosing the perfect nude lip color that won’t make me look washed out or ashy. Below, I’m sharing with you the things I have researched, compiled, and found to work in choosing the perfect nude lip color, after many failed trials.
Firstly, we need to determine skin undertone. Skin undertone is determined by the color of your veins, whether you wear silver or gold tone jewelry better, and whether you tan or burn easily. These will determine whether you are cool, neutral, or warm skin undertone.
Consider your natural lip color, you don’t want to stray too far from your own natural lip color.
If you’re a porcelain, milky, alabaster complexioned gal (Red heads) with a warm, pink undertone go for dusty pink rose like our new Younique Moodstruck Splash liquid lipstick shades “Successful,” a Rose nude or “Subtle,” a peach rose nude, or “Sumptuous,” Cotton candy pink. Avoid same shade as you skin tone, and avoid yellows.
Light to Fair Neutral Undertone – Try beigey – pink deeper shade (rosey pink) like Moodstruck Splash liquid lipstick in “Sentimental,” a fresh orchid shade, or pink with subtle peach or shade lighter than skin tone. Try the Moodstruck Splash liquid lipstick shade “Sparkling” which is a Peachy nude, or the new shade “Subtle,” a Peach rose nude.
Olive skin tones should avoid shades lighter than skin tone and can go 2 shade darker than skin tone. Warm olive can try the caramel shades, like “Stellar,” a beige nude. Neutral warm skin tones can try cool deep pink nude, medium warm shades, try Moodstruck Splash liquid lipstick “Sumptuous,” cotton candy pink. Neutral Cool skin tones will look beautiful with deep rose shades, like Moodstruck Splash liquid lipstick in “Successful,” rose nude, or the new Moodstruck Splash liquid lipstick shade in “Snarky,” a plum rose nude.
Golden medium skin tones can go lighter than actual skin tone. Medium, creamy beige shades will look great with darker lip liner applied on the upper lip. Try “Sympathetic,” a medium nude, or “Stellar,” a beige nude.
Mocha skin toned gals look great in rosey, mauve, caramel, coppery shades. Avoid pale shades as this might tend to look ashy. Try Moodstruck Splash liquid lipstick in “Successful,” Rose nude, or “Sublime,” a natural nude with mauve undertone.
Deep skin tone gals should try chocolatey with pink shades. Add light gloss for a shimmery luscious lip. Try Moodstruck Splash liquid lipstick in “Stoic,” a rusty brown shade.
